1. No end yet for 9mobile acquisition

9mobile is yet to meet certain conditions as preferred bidders for the takeover of 9mobile. Some of the conditions outlined for Teleology include clear evidence of the registration of Teleology with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), technical capabilities to handle the fourth largest mobile network.

2. Nigerian girls win world's tech competition

Nigerian teenage girls were part of the team that shared more than $50,000 for winning the 2018 Technovation World Pitch Summit, the world's largest tech entrepreneurship program in the United States.

Iridescent, a nonprofit empowering under-represented young people globally announced that the Nigerian girls won the Junior Division Finalists (App focus) category during the "Global Innovation Celebration" held in the San Jose Theatre, August 9, 2018.

3. Facebook goes after Page using a fake or compromised account

People who manage these Pages will be required to complete an authorization process in order to continue to post, making it harder for people to administer a Page using a fake or compromised account, Facebook said in a blog post.

Facebook had deleted 32 Pages and accounts from its platforms for being "involved in coordinated inauthentic behaviour.”

4. Nigeria-based digital credit platform, Mines has secured $13 million Series A round

Mines, a fintech startup re-inventing credit in emerging markets, has closed a Series A round of $13M led by The Rise Fund, a global fund managed by TPG Growth.

The startup plans to use its investment for talent acquisition, continued growth in Africa, and expansion to South America and South-East Asia.

5. MTN listing on Nigerian market

MTN Nigeria said it expect to list on the Nigerian Stock Exchange before the end of 2018, subject to regulatory approvals and appropriate market conditions.

MTN Group said any reduction in its ownership of MTN Nigeria will be limited.

7. Nigeria looks for innovative ways to fund the acquisition of satellites

Adebayo Shittu, the Minister of Communications said the government is searching for an innovative way to fund the acquisition of two new communications satellites for Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited.

The Minister regretted that NigComSat Limited had enjoyed limited patronage and urged private and public institutions across the country to patronise the satellite company in order to position it as a prime provider of satellite services across the African continent.
