The Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) has chastised Minister of Education Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang over government's decision of abolishing teacher motivation allowance.

Education Minister accused of making teachers suffer
King Ali Awudu, Vice President of CCT in an interview with Citi FM said the Education Minister is pursuing policies aimed at making life difficult for teachers.

The allowance was levied on students at the senior high school level, but that will no longer be charged from the next academic term.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education Francis Gbadago on December 7, 2015 noted that, "We have realised over the period that the purpose for which this teacher motivation allowance was introduced has outlived its importance."
"We think that at this point in time, it is important for us to review the process; when you go to the hospital you don’t expect to be charged doctors’ motivation fee.
"We think that at this point in time, when we take out that particular segment of payment from the fees, it will be a significant relieve for our parents who have always complained about the payment of that particular teacher motivation fee," he added.
But the Coalition of Concerned Teachers argued: "The rate at which this Minister is disgracing teachers is just becoming too much. Since she took office, her main aim is to make sure the teachers suffer. She took the teacher trainee allowance which is a motivation for teachers, she took away the car waiver, which is a motivation for teachers, she took away the extra classes allowance, which is a motivation for teachers and today she is taking away the staff incentive."

King Ali Awudu warned that, "If government goes ahead to take away the motivation allowance, we shall retaliate by withdrawing the number of hours we have put in it."
