Two Tamale University students arrested for allegedly killing pastor

The two Electrical Engineering students were arrested following a complaint made by a member of the church.

The suspects, Dojie Kwame, 28, and Akwasi Abio, 21, were arrested last Saturday on a tip-off after they had offered for sale a Toyota Highlander 4×4 vehicle they allegedly took away from the pastor’s residence after the attack.

The two Electrical Engineering students were arrested following a complaint made by a member of the church, Ben Asamoah who visited the pastor at his residence after he failed to attend a programme only to see him lying in a pool of blood in his kitchen with knife wounds.

According to reports, Dojie is said to be a co-tenant of the deceased, and his accomplice, Abio, also took away an unspecified sum of money from the pastor’s residence.

According to the Spokesperson of the Northern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Mohammed Yusif Tanko, the suspects allegedly attacked and killed the pastor on Friday, November 10, 2017.

He said the suspects took away 2005 model Toyota Highlander with registration number GN 1763-14 and an undisclosed amount of money.

He said a church member lodged a complaint with the police upon detection of the crime adding that an informant suspected the boys after spotting blood stains on a fifty Ghana Cedis note which the two killers gave to him to buy fuel and test the car.

He further stated the police acted on the information from the complainant and the informant and upon investigations, the two students were arrested.

However, they are expected to make an appearance before court today November 13, 2017.
