NSS apologises to service personnel over assault

The management also revealed that measures have been put in place to ease the congestion

In a viral video circulated on social media later that day, the La Dade-Kotopong Municipal registration center in Accra saw a military personnel who in an attempt to control the restless crowd, resorted to flogging with a cane which inflicted various levels of injury onto some of the queuing masses.

In that regard, Acting Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Hon. Ussif Mustapha in a statement on Tuesday referred to the incidents as ‘regrettable, and therefore wishes to apologize to all such national service personnel and the general public for the recorded incidents of congestion which led to the manhandling.’

"Management wishes to state that the incidents are regrettable, and  therefore wishes to apologize to all such national service personnel and the general public for the recorded incidents of congestion which led to the manhandling," the statement said.

"Management has put in place measures to ease the congestions and therefore wishes to appeal to all national service personnel to remain calm and go through the registration process smoothly," it added.
