About the fund

Giving a background to the setting up of the fund at a ceremony in Accra, the National President of the association, Mr Kwabena Fosu Asante, said Dr Theodore Adjei Osae was the first Ghanaian headmaster of Prempeh College from 1963 to 1977.

He said during his tenure, the college was transformed into one of the best schools in the country, producing a lot of professionals who could be found in various sectors of the national economy.

He said Dr Osae passed away on August 3, 2012 and at his funeral, the association decided to set up a scholarship scheme for brilliant, but needy students from Teshie, the community where he lived.

Mr Asante pledged to sustain the fund in order to be able to support more students in the community to climb the academic ladder.

He also urged the students to learn hard, be disciplined and focus on their studies so they could grow and achieve their aims in life.

Support laudable

The Chairperson of the Educational Committee of the Presby Church in Teshie, Mr Jacob Nii Annan, lauded the support of the association for supporting the people of Teshie.

He said the move would help the students to study and also win more academic laurels that would not only put the name of the people of Teshie on the academic calendar but also keep the name of the late Dr Osae alive.

The Greater Accra Regional President of the Association, Mr Kwabena Nyarko, also pledged to increase the number of scholarships in the coming years but said the association would not hesitate to withdraw the scholarship should any beneficiary begin to score low grades in school.
