Hygiene students boycott classes

This is in protest of the government’s failure to restore their allowances.

In a jointly-signed statement by the three SRC Presidents, the students explained that they have been frustrated for so long over what they described as neglect by the government.

The students demonstrated last week over the development, asking the Akufo-Addo government to fulfil a campaign promise he made to them to have their allowances restored.

According to them, they have gone through all the necessary requirements for their allowances to be paid.

The students from the three campuses of the School of Health said that even though they have submitted their E-zwich and other valid identification cards as well as their account numbers, none of them have received their allowances.

They said that they do not understand why they have been neglected by the government although trainees from the various nursing training and colleges of health have received allowances for September and October, after the announcement that the allowances have been restored.

The students subsequently gave the Sanitation Ministry a two-day ultimatum to act on their petition or face an intensified action.
