The Ministry of Education has said it has not tasked the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to conduct a three-year analysis of the results of Senior High Schools (SHS) throughout the country.

According to the Ministry, its focus is to ensure the regular and adequate supply of teaching and learning materials to all SHSs throughout the country to ensure quality education delivery.

The Saturday, October 24, 2015 edition of the Daily Graphic reported that government had tasked CHASS to conduct a three-year analysis of the results of senior high schools (SHS) throughout the country to enable the Ministry of Education to take a decision on whether or not the current three-year duration should be reverted to four years or maintained.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Trobu in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Moses Anim, made this known when the Committee on Government Assurance in Parliament visited the Students’ Parliament of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) at Cape Coast on Thursday, October 22, 2015.

But a statement signed by the Deputy Minister of Education, Pre-Tertiary, Mr Alex Kyeremeh described the report as false, saying, “The ministry wishes to state clearly that Government has not tasked CHASS to conduct any three-year analysis of the results of SHSs throughout the country and we therefore, disassociate ourselves from that comment.”
