Educational Curriculum must include ICT modules – Veep

According to him, Ghana’s emerging economy will need personnel with the requisite ICT skills to manage the various sectors of the economy.

Vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur says there is the need to review Ghana`s educational curriculum to include Information Communication and Technology (ICT) modules to produce skilled personnel for the emerging ICT sector.

“Crucially, we must ensure that our education system provides our students with the skills for matching the pace of development in order to make them relevant for the job market and the many opportunities in the IT sector,” he said this at the opening ceremony of the Africa Mobile and ICT Expo 2015 in Accra on Thursday.

Mr. Amissah Arthur emphasized on the importance of mobile phones saying, “The mobile device has come to stay. It will continue to transform our lives in many ways – politically, socially, economically, culturally and even in our religions.”

He added that: “Since we cannot halt its progress, we just need to embrace it and exploit the benefits it provides to enable us to keep up with the pace of development of our competitors in the global race.”

The second gentleman of the land advised that mobile phones be used in a way that will make a positive impact.

“It is important to emphasize that mobile devices also assume the character of their owners or the character of their uses. It does not have a character of its own and can either be used to build or destroy and there are many ways in which can be used,” he explained, “Therefore, we need to resolve to use the mobile devices in some ways that promote human development, peaceful coexistence among ourselves and to deliver the shared economic prosperity for all our people.”
