UEW withholds certificates of 300 students

The students had disregarded the rules of the congregation of the university.

They had their certificates withheld for three months after the 22nd congregation of the university in Kumasi on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.

The graduates involved were from the Faculty of Business Education of the College of Technology Education of the university.

They were said to have left the congregation grounds to pick up their certificates, moments after they had been called, instead of doing so at the end of the ceremony.

According to the rules of the congregation, graduates must remain seated for the programme to end before leaving, but the students involved did not do so.

The University Council subsequently described the action of the students as gross disregard for the rules of the congregation.

The Council was, therefore, compelled to take the decision to withhold their certificates for three months.
