Ghanaian defender records emphatic win on Schalke debut

Abdul Baba Rahman played as Schalke won by 4-0 in the Ghanaian's competitive debut for the German club.

The Black Stars player joined the German Bundesliga club on a season-long loan transfer deal from English Premier League team Chelsea.

Baba Rahman has already played some pre-season games but made his official debut against FC 08 Villingen on Saturday in the German DFB Cup.

The Ghana international who was handed a start on his debut saw his Schalke 04 side win by a convincing four goals to one away from home.

Dennis Aogo scored the opening goal of the game ten minutes into kick-off with Breel Embolo doubling Schalke’s lead nine minutes later to send the away team 2-0 up going into the interval.

Schalke 04 resumed the scoring in the second half with Johannes Geis and Klaas Jan Hantelar finding the back of the net to give Baba Rahman’s team a 4-0 lead on the Ghanaian’s competitive debut for the German club.

FC 08 Villingan pulled one back in additional minutes to end the game at 4-1 as Schalke 04 progress to the second round of the German Cup.
