NPP to begin issuance of new ID cards to members

Speaking at the Extraordinary National Delegates’ Conference in Sunyani, Mr. Boadu said the move is to broaden the membership base of the party by ensuring grassroots mobilisation.

The acting General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has indicated that the party will soon begin issuing party ID cards to members and sympathisers of the party.

“I will like to assure you that in the coming days, the party will quickly restart the issuance of party ID cards across the country.

"Article 3(i) 1 and 2 of the constitution of the NPP states that there shall be checks at every polling station, and in the office of the party, in each constituency, an up-to-date register of the members of the party in the constituency, which shall be updated every six months and forwarded to the national secretariat.“And our team intends to implement this provision in our party in order to ensure that we have credible members of our party at the various polling stations,” Mr. Boadu said.

He added that an up-to-date register of all members who contribute funds to the party will be kept at each regional office of the party.

Meanwhile, ex-President John Kufuor has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the only party that can give the change Ghanaians are yearning for.

He indicated that Ghana at the moment is “demanding change” because the nation has “come to a very critical stage and fearful crossroads.”

Addressing party delegates’ at the 15th national delegates’ conference in Sunyani on Saturday, the former President explained that Ghana is seeking change “because of the affliction of bad governance, poor economy, lack of direction that we suffer in the country.”
