The Commander –in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to build major garrisons (battalion) in all ten regions of the country.

The statement was said during the swearing in of the newly appointed Chief of Army staff Major General Obed Boamah Akwa at the flagstaff house on Monday July 4, 2016.
He made this statement in accordance of Governments policy to improve the security services in the various regions that are security free.
The president in consultation with the Council of State approved his appointment on 1 July, 2016.
