Mahama government sold state lands like 'kelewele'- Minister

The sector Minister John Peter Amewu said state lands were given away to cronies like “kelewele” [fried pieces of plantain] without following due process.

He told Accra-based Joy FM that a committee has, therefore, been formed to look into the land sale.

The sale of state lands and properties have always been under every regime has always been met with controversies.

The Rawlings’ administration was accused, under a divestiture programme, of selling state properties including the Nsawam cannery to the then first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The Kufuor administration was also accused by some Ga youth of selling Ga lands to cronies.

The previous Mahama administration is also alleged to have done same.

Mr Amewu said that the government’s plans to automate the entire land administration system to bring down issues of corruption in the process.
