Out of the four shot stoppers, Soulama and Akurugu have kept in most of the club’s games in this season.
Who will be Hearts of Oak goalkeeper on Sunday against Kotoko in the Ghana’s version of the ‘El Classico’?
However, ahead of the Sunday’s clash, PulseSports takes a look at the four goalkeepers’ statistics this season.
Soulama Abdoulaye
The experienced shot stopper joined the Phobians last season from Kotoko and he became the club’s number one shot stopper.
This season, he was one of the best goalkeepers but his howler in the Premier League game against Kotoko in Accra gave away the three points. That game will go down as one of the worst days in the Burkinabe import’s career.
Soulama has however been in goal for 13 games this season. He has kept four clean sheets, conceding six goals in those games.
Samuel Akurgu
Akurgu is one of the diminutive goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League. He made his transfer move to the Accra giants this season from Sekondi Hasaacas and he has been giving Soulama the needed competition this season.
Akurugu made his Premier League debut in the Phobians’ 2-0 win over Medeama SC at the T&A Park in Tarkwa.
On match day 10 when Soulama was sent off, he was called upon and had a fantastic day as he prevented Kotoko strikers from scoring more goals.
He has been in goal for seven games out of the 20 Premier League fixtures. Akurgu has conceded seven goals and kept four cleans sheets.
Sylvanus Evans Gbeti
Sylvanus is one of the new faces in Hearts of Oak’s set up. The former Cornerstones goalie had his debut when Hearts of Oak battled their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko for the 2016 President Cup.
The 22 year-old goalie shoke off a nervous start to the game to pull of an incredible saves as the game ended 0-0 and in the penalty shoot-outs he saved one kick but his team lost the trophy to the Kumasi giants via 2-3 on penalties.
Seidu Mutawakilu
Seidu is tallest goalkeeper in the Ghana Premier League and is currently with league leaders Hearts of Oak. He joined the Phobians two seasons ago from Dreams FC, this season he is yet to make his Premier League appearance. He was in the post in Hearts of Oak’s round of 32 FA Cup game against second-tier side Samatex.
Last season he helped Hearts of Oak to beat Kotoko 1-0 in Kumasi in a Premier League.
The big question is, which of these goalkeepers will be in goal for Hearts of Oak in their Ghana Premier League fixture against Asante Kotoko on Sunday?
