A lawyer for 14 of the Magistrates indicted in the Judicial Service corruption scandal is demanding the arrest of the Tigereye team which conducted the investigation.

Charles Bentum on Unique FM’s Behind the News said: “Assuming without admitting that somebody even took a bribe, then the giver of the bribe is equally as guilty as the receiver so the one who gave the bribe would have to be arrested and prosecuted and not to become a hero.”

Mr. Bentum is seeking an injunction at the High Court to restrain the Judicial Council from investigate the allegations of bribery and corruption levelled against some Judges and Magistrates by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team, Tiger Eye PI.

Some have argued that the method of entrapment used by Anas and his team was illegal and as a result, the video evidence which was gathered during the investigation cannot be admissible in court.

According to Mr. Bentum, anyone who engages in entrapment has broken the law and must be arrested and prosecuted.

“…the principle is that an entrapment is wrong because you cannot use unlawful means to achieve a lawful outcome. It doesn’t work like that,” he argued.

Currently, a series of law suits have been filed at the court against the Judicial Council, Anas and his team to stop the Judicial Council from investigating the case as well as stop the public viewing of the incriminating video.

So far, 22 implicated Magistrates and Judges have been suspended by the Judicial Council.
