Eder scored the only goal of the game for Portugal against France in the final game of the 2016 edition of the European championship in extra time.
Michael Essien took to social media to congratulate Portugal for winning the Euro 2016 and named Sissoko as his man of the match.
The Portuguese side had to be without captain of the side Cristiano Ronaldo for most part of the final after the Real Madrid star was stretched off in the early minutes of the game.
The 1-0 defeat downed host nation France as Cristiano Ronaldo lifted his first international trophy for Portugal.
Michael Essien also praised France international Sissoko for his performance in the game naming him as his man of the match.
Former Chelsea star Essien posted on Twitter:
“Congratulations to Portugal for winning the European cup. Sissoko Man Of The Match…”
Michael Essien was released by Greek side Panathinaikos as he was not registered for their campaign next season. The player paid a visit to his former club Chelsea and fellow international teammate Christian Atsu in London last week.
