Construction of new NPP headoffice to begin next year - Freddie Blay

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to begin the construction of a new ultra-modern office complex next year.

The project, according to the party’s acting National Chairman, Freddie Blay, will commence alongside their 2016 election campaign.

Addressing the gathering at the 15th extraordinary national delegates’ conference in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani on Saturday, Mr. Blay indicated that the construction is being funded by some benevolent members of the party.

“With excitement I wish to inform you that some good and resourceful party members have offered to assist NPP to build an ultra-modern party headquarters from their own resources,” he said.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) early this year unveiled their new national headquarters in Adabraka Accra.

The four-storey twin-tower office complex is estimated to have cost the party $20 million; an amount the party’s General Secretary denied.

The leadership of the party has however refused to divulge the source of funding for the project which many say was put up with state funds.

Mr. Blay alluded to the fact that the NPP unlike the NDC will not come to power before undertaking such a project.

He stressed that “mind you, where we are in opposition, and I stress; where we are in opposition, this project will start alongside our campaign.”

The acting National Chairman however, failed to give the exact location where the new office complex will be situated.
