The Arise Ghana demonstration which started yesterday turned out to be chaotic after some protestors clashed with some police officers. Commenting on the clash, Gabby Otchere-Darko described it as shameful.

Lydia Forson has called out Gabby Otchere-Darko over what she describes as 'shameful propaganda' against the ongoing Arise Ghana demonstration.

"An average of 250 protestors “arose” for the demo today. Scores of them decided to pelt the police with stones, bricks, etc. injuring them. Thankfully, the police would not be provoked and remained professional. I am not sure if this is what the organizers intended. Shameful!," the NPP stalwart said.
However, according to Lydia Forson, Gabby's comment is nothing but just political propaganda against the ongoing demonstration being staged by the organizers to highlight economic hardship in Ghana under the NPP government.

"SHAMEFUL is this propaganda when we’re not sure if these “scores” were a part of the original protestors. What was supposed to be a peaceful protest turned dangerous with both police/civilians sustaining injuries," Lydia Forson replied Gabby's tweet.
She concluded that "what we need is a proper investigation into how this happened".
Meanwhile, according to the Ghana Police, 29 ‘Arise Ghana’ demonstrators have been arrested in connection to the chaos.
According to the police, the organizers of the protest will also be arraigned before court. In a statement copied to the media, the police said the arrest was as a result of the demonstrators’ involvement in the “violent attack” on police officers.

“The police have arrested 29 demonstrators for their participation in violent attacks on the police and some members of the public, including school children, during the Arise Ghana demonstration in Accra.”
The Ghana Police Service said it is reviewing available video footage of the event and will not hesitate to apprehend all other persons who incited the violence. However, the organizers of the Arise Ghana demonstration have disputed some of the claims by the police.
At a press conference after Tuesday’s protest, a member of the coalition, Rex Omar said “one of the things we found out later is that a gentleman, who was with the police but had dressed as a demonstrator, was the first to pelt stones at the police, in the bid to instigate a reaction from them.”
He noted that members of the coalition are law-abiding and would not do anything to compromise the peace the country enjoys.

“Our members are very peaceful, we hoped that this would happen in a very cordial manner. We never planned for this. That is why all through, we have engaged the police on reaching a consensus on our demonstration.”
Another member, who is also the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi said the police’s response to the development was only a ploy to discredit the coalition.
