Music producer says he does not work with superstars because they have ego

According to Hammer, he likes grooming talents because they are ready to listen and will welcome his criticisms, some of which may be harsh. However, artistes who have already tasted stardom may find such criticisms unfortunate and derogatory.

“I always bring them from the ground and build them. I don’t want to work with superstars because they come into the studio with their egos. They come with girls. I will disgrace you. If you are rapping and not doing it well, I will tell you right in the face. I will diss you. So they don’t want to risk that. If you are a star, when it’s time for you to go to the studio, forget about your stardom. Leave it behind. That is very difficult for them to do,” he said on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix.

Hammer who is out with his debut single, “4Decades”, also mentioned that he decided to record compilation albums back in the day because the rappers under his tutelage were many and he wanted to give each the opportunity to showcase their talents.

His compilations include the Execution Diary (2003), Sounds of Our Time (2004) and The Crusade of the Lost Files (2006).

He mentioned that “4Decades” which features poet, Nana Asaase, focuses on his 40 years existence on earth.
