Family of late musician to decide burial on Monday

Although Daasebre was a Muslim, his family refused to bury him in line with Islamic tradition because he was a royal from the New Juaben Traditional Area.

Daasebre Gyamenah was expected to be buried on Friday after Jumah prayers according to Islamic tradition but his mortal remains was deposited at the St Joseph’s morgue in Koforidua by his family.

According to some reports, there were back and forth over his burial when his body arrived but the family head and the Chief Imam have resorted to planning his burial on Monday.

Speaking to Kwasi Aboagye on Peace FM today, the spokesperson of the late musician, Agya Owusu Boagye said the family has finally decided to meet on Monday at 4pm to decide his final burial rites.

“I spoke with the Chief Imam about the burial and we decided to meet on Monday at 4pm to decide the final rites,” he said.

He added that “Even the family’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday so we will use the opportunity to discuss Daasebre’s burial.”

However, he expressed his disappointment in some media outlets who reported that the head of the family wanted to make some money from Daasebre’s remains. According to him, there was nothing of that sort.
