Actors Guild not a pension grant for you – Master Richard fights Abeiku Sagoe

While Micky stated that he is a member of the guild which has seen “too much rot” and called for sanity, Mr Sagoe stated that Micky is not a paid member of the Guild and cannot fight it from outside.

Micky Osei Berko (Master Richard)

Master Richard who appeared on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on Saturday stated that the guild has lost its relevance and needs to be redeemed. Although Mr Sagoe agreed with him on that assertion, the veteran actor told Micky to be a member of the guild to help uplift its image.

This was after Micky had stated that the guild is in constitutional crisis as it has three different constitutions. But Abeiku Sagoe, who hasdeclared his intention to contest for the presidency, refuted the claim saying the constitution has undergone amendments and so the Guild works with only one constitution.

“…You are not a member of the guild. It is true. Are you a member? Do you have your membership card? When I realised I was coming on the show with you, I asked if you are registered. I understand last two months, you were at the guild’s office making enquiries on registration, you left and up to now, you have not gone back,” Abeiku Sagoe said.

In response, Micky said he was a proud member of the guild and has the right to talk on issues affecting it.

“I respect you so much. Most of the things you are saying are not true. Listen, Actors Guild is not a pension grant for some of you…” he stated.

The Ghana Actors Guild currently has no President, Vice President and Welfare Officer. Its President, Rev Eddie Coffie and Welfare Officer, Solomon Sampah have passed on.

Vice President Vivian Achor who would have seen to the day-to-day administration of the guild is said to have travelled outside the country for more than a year without informing the guild. Her position has subsequently been declared vacant by the guild.

They intend having elections after the final funeral rites.
