I don’t owe Prince David Osei – Movie producer fires back

David Osei in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz labelled the movie producer as a swindler and an attention seeker.

Movie producer, David Owusu

The actor in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz labelled the movie producer as a swindler and an attention seeker. This was in reaction to a publication that Mr Owusu has advised actors in Kumasi to be careful following some English speaking actors decision to shoot movies in Kumasi.

Prince David Osei before speaking to the issue alleged that Mr Owusu once failed to pay him after contacting him for a movie, a reason he should not be taken serious.

“The David Owusu we are talking about is a producer. He is one shoddy guy, a swindler, takes people’s money to produce movies for them and he doesn’t do it. He’s been in police custody several times. The last time I remember working with him was in 2011. He couldn’t even pay me so that guy wants attention,” he stated.

However, Mr Owusu on the same platform denied owing the actor. He admitted working with Prince David Osei on a movie but recounted there was a contract that they share the rights.

“We shot ‘The Battle’. We had a very good relationship so we went into an agreement that he takes this right so I take that right [America and Ghana]. We signed a contract. I don’t owe David Osei,” he fumed.

Asked if he has been arrested before as alleged by Prince David Osei, Mr Owusu replied, “I’m a businessman aside production. If one way or the other, you have a misunderstanding with somebody and he reports you to the police, that doesn’t make you a criminal. Yes, I have had one or two issues with certain people that has landed at the police station…”

The producer clarified that he only meant to say that some of the English actors have a problem with work ethics and needed to put a stop to it.

“If David feels that he is the artiste who needs to work on his work ethics, that’s fine,” he intimated.
