This was disclosed by highlife legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu in an interview with Happy FM.

According to Nana Ampadu, Amakye Dede told some executives of the Ghana Music Right Owners (GHAMRO) who visited him on Monday that the visitation by some prominent people in Ghana including the president has strengthened him.

“Kojo Antwi, Agya Abraham, Bandex and some executives of GHAMRO went to visit him [Amakye Dede] this morning. Although it was not a visiting hour, they allowed us entry, we had a conversation with him and you could see he was responding to treatment. He told us President Mahama was there the previous day to visit him and all these visitations make him feel good,” Nana Ampadu said.

Amakye Dede’s Toyota Corolla car was rammed into by a Sprinter bus from Kumasi with him inside it, as he was waiting to perform at a show at the Paradise Spot, a few meters away from the popular Linda Dor Restaurant.

“I saw a taxi driver who entered the main Kumasi-Accra Highway and then he went to the fuel station to buy fuel. After that, he tried to get onto the main road but he was enjoying the music being played at the Paradise spot. But at the same time, he was entering the main road not knowing that Amakye Dede’s car was just behind his car. Once the Taxi driver realized that Amakye Dede’s car was not moving, he decided to pass by it and move onto the main road,” Prince Yeboah, an eye witness, told Citi News.

“Amakye Dede also tried to move from the location and strangely an oncoming sprinter bus collided head-on with Amakye Dede’s corolla car and the taxi driver immediately sped off from the scene. There was a guy and two ladies standing at the fuel station who were also hit by the sprinter. The taxi driver caused the accident. Some people sustained injuries and there was one guy who I think can only survive by the grace of God because he got stuck in the sprinter bus and we managed to pull him out and sent him to the Hospital,” he added.

The sad incident which occurred on New Year Day led to the death of his manager, Isaac Yeboah. Amakye Dede’s bodyguard was also injured. Both are responding to treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and 37 Military Hospital respectively.
