For many who enjoy core traditional African sounds with an urban sanitation and twist, this is your project.

Iyanya travelled the length and breadth of African cultures, extracting the moving melodies. In ‘Egwu’, the Igbos find home. Ghanaian Hiplife is strong on ‘Macoma’, The Yorubas have their flavour in ‘Awade’, ‘Okamfo’ takes care of the Francophone folk. For the classic Nigerian Highlife sound listen to ‘Psychology’ with Harrysong.

This album makes you happy. Iyanya projects celebration, happiness, and all the good feelings that come with being in a state of joy. Listen to the lead single ‘Gift’ with Don Jazzy. That’s the point of the album. Listen closely, be free, dance, and sustain a state of bliss.

The MMG acts take centre stage on “Applaudise”. Selebobo and Tekno display their prowess on the songs. DJ Coublon has credits for being a master producer. Sarkodie, Banky W, Seyi Shay, Dammy Krane, Lil Kesh, Olamide and may more. That’s a stellar group of talents.

We all love the concept of love which comes riding in with a dose of happiness. Iyanya finds new ways to creatively explain and express local love on this LP. He find a balance between the raunchy lyrics which eulogizes the female anatomy, and the clean, romantic words which can be used without basic sex lingering as an aftertaste.

Iyanya’s album is diverse in the beat-making, instrumentation and general production. Tee-Y Mix, Spellz, Black Jerzy, Selebobo, MystroPrinceton, WizzyPro, London Boys, and Mr Chido all make up music engineers of this project. That diversity, for many other albums, creates a weakness. But on “Applaudise”, it becomes strength.

Off the “Applaudise” album comes the visuals to ‘Okamfo’. The MMMG superstar features YBNL soldier – Lil Kesh on this one, directed by AJE Filmworks.
