Flowking Stone weeps for musicians

The rapper says he sometimes wonders how full-time artistes are able to make a living when they are unable to make a hit for years.

Rapper Flowking Stone says it is his wish to see a change in the list of artistes billed to perform at events some years to come.

Stating his utmost wish in the music industry as he celebrates his birthday, the rapper  who timed the release of his song, to coincide with the day on which he was born in an interview on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, saidit is mostly easy to predict which musicians would be billed to perform at events since same faces are seen on almost every stage.

He told show host, Abrantepa that event organisers engage the services of artistes who are able to make it to the top five hits tracks with the view of getting audience. However, if there could be events where people who were once hit-makers are featured, it would be helpful to both the organisers and the artistes.

Flowking Stone disclosed that he sometimes wonders how full-time artistes are able to make a living when they are unable to make a hit for years.

“I wish musicians will not eat only when they are able to feature on the top five hits. We are fortunate to have gone to school, obtained a certificate to work and earn a living. But sometimes I wonder how some artistes who are doing full time music survive when they do not make a hit for five years or so.

“I wish our system will get to the level of United States, South Africa and others where if you once made a hit song, you would earn from that even when you decide not to continue doing music.

"Or, a time will come where not only those who have made hit songs at the said time will be billed to perform at shows. It should not be a one-way show where the same artistes perform on almost every stage. There should be different events like highlife time, hiplife 92 etc so we have a variety,” he suggested.
