700 Club presenter tells parents not to attend gay child's wedding

Pat Robertson, the presenter of Christian TV program, 700 Club, on Thursday, March 5, advised a viewer against attending her gay child's upcoming wedding.

Pat Robertson, the presenter of Christian TV program, 700 Club, on Thursday, March 5, advised a viewer against attending her gay child's upcoming wedding.

The viewer had asked Robertson whether she and her husband should attend their child's gay wedding, adding that one parent was adamant about not going 'because it was against the Lord's plan,' but the other felt they should attend to show love and support for their child.

In past episodes of the program, Robertson had always made it clear that Christians should not attend gay weddings, and he repeated that advice on Thursday.

"You don't agree with it. You've got to stand there and be a witness to it," he said. "By your attendance at the ceremony, you are agreeing with it … I just wouldn't go. I would tell your child, 'I love you but I cannot condone this. We will always love you but I don't condone this activity.'"

Robertson advised the parents to be unified in opposition and not to allow the parent who wished to attend the wedding to do so "because that indicates that (your child's) conduct is splitting your marriage."

"Be in unity," Robertson said, "and I would say don't go."
