KKD’s daughter is insensitive! – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw chides

His comment comes in the wake of the 19 year old daughter’s statement that the accusation of rape against her father was bogus from the start.

Private legal practitioner, Dr. Maurice Ampaw has described ace broadcaster Kwesi Kyei Darkwah’s daughter, Ohemaa Kyei Darkwa as insensitive without the fear of God and proper home bringing in her.

Ohemaa is on record to have told Starr FM in an interview after rape charges against her father were dropped that she has always believed her father did not rape Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson. She indicated that she was, “incredibly excited because it is just very good to know that my dad has been granted the justice he deserves, this case has been bogus from the start”.She added: “It is not the age that matters to me; but the accusation that bothered me because at the end of the day…it is an issue of whether it was a criminality or not and it wasn’t so we are going to the African Regent Hotel to celebrate".

But Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has said the comments could provoke the other side. He added that, her father got off the hook because the state prosecutor decided to discontinue the case due to some reasons which should have been overlooked.

“If her father had indeed won a case of rape charge and there is fear of God in her and she was well trained at home, she is supposed to go to church to thank God. Going to the same African Regent Hotel where the rape took place to celebrate her father’s victory, appears to suggest she is trying to mock Ewuraffe and her family….for her to describe the rape charge as bogus and to go celebrate at African Regent Hotel, KKD’s daughter is insensitive”, he said in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, host of OkayFM's "Ade Akye Abia".

Lawyer Ampaw noted that Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) was freed because the Attorney General cited the unwillingness of the victim and her family members to testify as the main reason for discontinuing the case. However, the rape charge against the renowned broadcaster is still pending unless the case is tried in court and he gains an acquittal.

KKD was arrested at the African Regency Hotel on Saturday, December 27, 2014, following the alleged rape, which reportedly took place in the washroom of the hotel.

He was charged with rape but he denied the allegation on the grounds that the sexual encounter with the victim was ‘consensual’.
