My mother deserves State burial - Awurama Badu's son pleads

Those who were hit most were her immediate family and colleagues who expressed shock on the death.

Ceaser Ohene Karikari, a son of the late musician said the whole family is devastated at her passing because she was a mother to all.

He said his late mother deserves a state burial.

He added that he agrees with critics who believe the ‘Medofo Adaade Me’ singer needs the funeral organised by the state to honour people of national significance.

Speaking on Accra-based Univers radio, he said the family will not force government to organise such event for his mother but her mother's family would be happy if such a decision is taken.

The one-week celebration, according to the family, will be held on Friday, November 3 at Asante Banko after which the burial arrangements will be made public.

Awurama Badu died at age 72 and is survived by four children.
