Rocky Dawuni has six studio albums

Ghanaian reggae artiste, Rocky Dawuni has said his nomination at the 2016 Grammy Awards is a victory for Africa.

Iconic Dawuni, has been nominated in the Best Reggae Album category for his album ‘Branches of the Same Tree’.

This makes him the first Ghanaian to be nominated at the Grammys.

Rocky Dawuni has been nominated in the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category at the 2016 Grammy Awards for his album ‘Branches of the Same Tree’.

 

Speaking to Amanda Jissi on Hitz FM’s Showbiz Filla, the internationally celebrated reggae artiste said his nomination is the biggest he could imagine.

“I feel that this is a milestone for Ghanaian music… For Ghanaian music to be recognised within the realms of the Grammy which is the biggest you can imagine… and also being African and being able to have a nomination within the reggae category is a big thing for both African music and African artistes. It’s for Ghana,” Rocky Dawuni said.

Asked what he did right that merited the nomination, Dawuni said it was borne out of hard work and being exceptional.

“It is years of hard work and making excellent records and albums… You challenge yourself every time and you also push the boundaries,” he noted.

Rocky Dawuni’s sixth studio which has earned him the nomination is slated to be launched on December 18, 2015.

In 1996, he released his first studio album, The Movement which was followed by Crusade, Awakening, Book of Changes and Hymns for the Rebel Soul in 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2010 respectively.
