Fans praise Angela Bassett's debut directorial movie on Twitter

Despite the movie's disapproval from late Whitney Houston's family last year, fans say Bassett did a fanstastic job!

The much anticipated biopic, "Whitney" is finally out and it didn't fall shot of fans' expectations at the cinemas after it premiered on Lifetime, January 17.

Fans immediately landed on social media praising the movie's director, Angela Bassett for getting it right despite the movie's disapproval from late Whitney Houston's family last year.

Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina slammed Bassett when she wasn't called up to be part of the cast. She even called the veteran actress 'a man' in a series of nasty Tweets

One fan wrote, @ChristianKeyes : It's easy to criticize… It should be just as easy to give credit where it's due. There is some good acting in this #WhitneyMovie.

Another wrote, @Breshawebb : The #WhitneyMovie was AWESOME! Congrats @ImAngelaBassett and the entire cast! @theyayadacosta you were breathtaking! I know #Whitneys proud!

@trenyce : Gowns&beauty made her a star...not perfect...and we can't just accept the parts we wish. She was complicated. She was human. #WhitneyMovie

'Whitney' starts the legend singer’s story in 1989 when she meets estranged ex-husband Bobby Brown(played by Arlen Escarpeta), who asks a young Whitney (Yaya Dacosta) out. It’s pretty much love at first sight, but as we know, Whitney and Bobby’s high profile relationship crumbled in front of the public eye, as the film shows.
