The movie "Beasts of No Nation" was one of the many movies that were snubbed when the nominations for this year’s Academy Awards (Oscar) were announced leading to the #OscarsSoWhite social media campaign.

In an interview with Jeremie on "Touchdown" on Live FM, actress Ama K. Abebrese, who played the role of of the mother of lead character Agu in the movie, shared her thoughts on the snub.

“In a way, I was a bit surprised because I thought if any movie deserves to be nominated…performances left right and center. I thought Idris (Elba) would get a nomination, and I thought Abraham Attah would get a nomination,” she said.

“The Oscars has been happening for 88 years; and in the 88 years, they’ve given 14 Oscars to black people,” she concluded.
