Organisers move awards to June

To honour the late Michael Anyiam-Osigwe, organisers of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards have moved the awards date to June.

As against the normal April date, the organisers of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMMA) have moved the awards date to June.

The 11th edition of the event has been postponed to honour the memory of the late Michael Anyiam-Osigwe; The older brother of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe(founder of AMAA) who was shot dead by armed robbers late last year.

Before his death, Michael was the Coordinator of the Anyiam-Osigwe Group and Secretary to the Supervisory Board.

According to Tony Anih, Director of Administration:

‘Michael has been a great pillar of support for AMAA since its inception and his untimely death has sure thrown some immediate challenges to us as a body but we are pressing on and we have to change the date from traditional month of April to June to allow us prepare and respond to the current realities.

We will announce the actual date for Nominations and the main award in April and June soonest.’
