Season 5 premiere episode breaks record

Season 5 premiere of 'Game of Thrones' drew the fantasy drama’s largest audience to date.

The season undefined attracted a record breaking audience when the first episode aired on Sunday, April 12, 2015.

The fifth season still bagged impressive viewing figures despite the first four episodes leaking before the premiere.

According to a Nielsen estimate, about 8 million people tuned in to the series’ 9/8c broadcast.

That number was up 17 percent from Season 4’s premiere, which had 1.16 million viewers, and clocks in at roughly 800,000 more viewers than any other Thrones episode ever.
