Ghanaian film director and C.E.O of Kofas media, Kofi Asamoah is in very hot waters over the alleged plagiarism of his latest movie, ‘John & John’.
Critics have accused Kofi Asamoah’s movie of having very striking similarities in concept with ‘Skeem’, an Award-winning South African movie.
Director of ‘Skeem’, Tim Greene has also joined the bandwagon and accused makers of the movie which made headlines earlier in 2017 as the biggest grossing movie to debut in Ghana in terms of production and premieres as being a copy.

Tim Greene who was obviously furious over the blatant theft of his intellectual property went on social media to vent his anger. According to Greene, he has never met the Ghanaian director in real life and they have never discussed any issue of copyright neither have they spoken of any adaptation.
“This is insane! Turns out Ghana’s biggest movie this year is a word-for-word rip-off of our movie 'Skeem.'”
Responding to questions from the media over the movie in April, the embattled director said he had permission from the original movie’s director when they met in South Africa for a film festival.
Tim Greene’s team has gone further to write a letter to Kofas Media to inform them of the infringement but the latter is yet to respond.
‘John and John’ featured a long list of Ghanaian actors from both side of the divide (Kumawood/Ghallywood) such as Kalybos, Kojo Nkansah (Lil Win), Funny Face, KSM, Maame Dokono, Ahoufe Patri, John Dumelo, James Gardiner, Kobi Rana, Yaw Dabo, Nana Ama McBrown, Salma Mumin, Fella Makafui, Moesha Boduong, Roselyn Ngissah, Selly Gally, Bishop Bernard Nyarko, Zynel Zuh, Umar Krupp with a star appearance from Nigeria’s Pete Edochie.
Skeem which was released in 2011 is a comedy about two friends who are sent to deliver money to their boss but on the way, they get issues with their car and are unable to find a mechanic thus they decide lodge at a resort. At the resort, they accidentally spill the cash out in the open causing the other guest to see what’s in the bag.
The guests at the resort after seeing the cash turn into greedy scheming thieves and try to snatch the cash from the original owners. All the guests have their reasons why they need to get the money for themselves and they would do anything within their means to have it, even if it includes backstabbing their friends or family they are with.
