Julianne Moore wins 'Best Actress' award!

Julianne Moore won Best Actress at the Oscars for her performance in 'Still Alice'.

Julianne Moore has won the award for ‘Best Actress’ at the 87th Academy Awards.

The US actress walked away with the coveted award for her lead role in the drama film ‘’, beating actresses Felicity Jones (‘The Theory of Everyting’), Marion Cotillard (‘’), Reese Witherspoon (‘Wild’) and Rosamund Pike (‘Gone Girl’).

“There's no such thing as Best Actress, as is evidenced by the performance of the nominees”, a teary-eyed Moore said as she accepted her award.

The 54-year-old actress also said she was grateful that the movie helped shine a light on Alzheimer's disease. ‘People with Alzheimer's deserve to be seen so we can find a cure’.

This is Moore’s first OSCAR.

In 2014, Cate Blanchett won ‘Best Actress’ for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine.’

The 87th Annual Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on February 22, 2015.
