The Mayor of Massachusetts, Joseph M. Petty, presented the young actor with the award at the 2016 edition of the African Youth Excellence Awards held in Worcester, Massachusetts Saturday, July 23. The Mayor congratulated the Attah for his achievements in his acting career and touted the inspiration that he (Attah) is to young people in a citation.

“Your award winning performance captivated world audiences; these profound strides serve as an inspiration for other young actors like you. You have a unique and bright future ahead of you,” the citation presented to Abraham said.

Fellow Ghanaian and undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas was also honoured at the event.

The African Youth Excellence Awards is one that highlights the accomplishments of young Africans who are making strides in art, education, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, and humanitarianism.

The 15-year-old actor, who is currently in Atlanta, Georgia, is on set shooting Sony-Marvel’s upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" film.

Abraham Attah shot to prominence after being cast in the ‘Beasts of No Nation’ movie alongside celebrated Hollywood actor, Idris Elba. The movie has since won several awards both in Ghana and Europe.
