A feature-length documentary film about Rihanna is in the works.

The documentary, intended to be released in cinemas, will be directed by Peter Berg, who previously worked with the singer on the 2012 action film 'Battleship', her first major acting job.The film is described as an "unfiltered look into Rihanna's life and how she's ascended to become a global icon" and "much more a character study than a music film".

According to Deadline, it is being conceived as a contemporary version of Don't Look Back, the classic 1967 documentary film about Bob Dylan directed by DA Pennebaker.Earlier this month (March) Rihanna shared preview clips of two new tracks titled 'American Oxygen' and 'Higher'. They follow her current single 'FourFiveSeconds' featuring Paul McCartney and Kanye West, which is set to appear on her forthcoming eighth album.West recently revealed that he is "executive producing" Rihanna's new album and added that the LP is "coming soon". Rihanna has not released a new album since 'Unapologetic' in 2012, having previously released an album a year since 2009.
