Sex on demand for grades or jobs, is now Ghana's well known secret.
"I am fed up, I can't deal with this anymore. Enough of this nonsense'. These are the words of Gift, (not her real name),
Sex on demand for grades or jobs, is now Ghana's well known secret. Yes secret, because everybody knows it is happening, but no one is willing to talk about it openly.
Almost every woman "knows a friend" who has suffered this sexual harassment (surprisingly their friends also know a friend who has gone through it), but none of the victims are willing to speak up.
Thankfully, there is The Standpoint, the platform that gives a voice to the voiceless and dares to touch the taboo topics.
On The Standpoint tonight, Dr. Gifty Anti speaks to a victim of "Sex for Grades, Sex for Jobs",
After years of taunts and pressure from her family for being jobless "Gifti", gave in to the man who promised to give her a job and pay her Ghc 1,000, a month.
It's been three years since that 'sex in exchange for job' business happened and Gifti is still jobless.
What happened? Don't miss The Standpoint tonight at 8:15pm on GTV and at www.thestandpoint.com.gh.
Panelists include Dinah Adiko, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Irene Aborchie-Nyahe, Director, Legal Assistance Network, Ghana and Gifti, the victim.
You must also not miss the new segment, A BIT OF ME. A shocking story of 'the widow maker'.
