The upcoming 10-episode drama series, which has been described as a replacement for "Game of Thrones," is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin.

The series stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.

Directed by Michael Crichton, the seriesis produced by Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions, and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the one-hour drama is based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was written and directed by American novelist Michael Crichton.

Executive produced by  J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk, "Westworld" is scheduled to premiere October 2016.
