Highlife artiste apologises for 2016 VGMAs gaffe

During his acceptance speech for the "Most Popular Song of the Year" award, the "Mansa" hitmaker stated that he will forever be remembered as a pioneer of Ghanaian Highlife music.

During his acceptance speech for the "Most Popular Song of the Year" award, the "Mansa" hitmaker stated that he will forever be remembered as a pioneer of Ghanaian Highlife music. "I thank everyone for the support...I will forever be remembered as a pioneer of Highlife music," he said and walked out of the stage.

His statement immediately created buzz on social media and even at the Accra International Conference Centre auditorium.

However, upon receiving his last award on the night, Bisa Kdei retracted his statement and said it was just a lapsus linguae thus, Ghanaians should forgive him.

"I didn't mean to say I am a pioneer...I wanted to say, I am part of those making Highlife music successful," sedated Bisa admitted.

Bisa Kdei was among the top winners on the night, bagging 4 awards. He walked home with the "Highlife Song of the Year", "Highlife Artiste of the Year", "Most Popular Song of the Year" and "Album of the Year" awards.
