Bulldog fights for Patapaa

Bulldog has said that "Patapaa should have made it to artiste of the year category."

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Bulldog told Andy Dosty that "Patapaa should have made it to artiste of the year category."

The song was a major hit and the hype escalated on social media with regard to the “crazy dance” that accompanied it. According to him, the song went international as such he couldn’t fathom why the VGMA board will “deliberately” overlook Patapaa.

“If you’re cutting someone out it should not be Patapaa. This is recognition; you don’t go silent or dark on them…you could have added his name even if he didn’t win. When people put in the effort to work, let's recognize thier effort. I’m highly disappointed”, Bulldog said.

But reacting to Bulldog’s assertions on the same Daybreak Hitz program, George Quaye, the Head of Communications at Charterhouse said the rules and codes for choosing nominees for ‘Artiste of the Year’ is different from ‘Song of the year’ category.

“If everyone is satisfied, we didn’t do the work well. That is not what we should look for; the reactions are natural. It will always happen because it is not new and won’t be the last," he said.

He urged fans of the awards and bitter musicians to resort to the Ghana Music Awards website for further clarifications on the criteria for selecting musicians into the various categories.
