TV3 reality contest ‘Mentor 1’ first runner-up, Andy, has revealed that Ofori Amponsah’s comeback song “Alewa” is a copyrighted song he composed.

The “Sweetie” singer told Sammy Flex on Accra based Pluzz FM on Tuesday, October 20, that his producer advised him to feature a Highlife mainstream act to sing the chorus.

“The song ‘Alewa’ was produced by NADACO in Kumasi. My producer told me the music sounded like Highlife so I should feature a popular Highlife singer to sing the chorus version,” he said.

According to Andy, he thought of featuring his colleague Okuraseni Samuel but later called Kumasi based Highlife artiste, Kofi Nti, who urged him to change some lyrics in the songs which he refused.

“I had first considered to feature my mentor colleague, Okuraseni Samuel but later told popular Highlife singer, Kofi Nti and he advised me to change some lyrics in the song but I declined. He told me to wait for him at the studio which he never showed up at Taifa PI Studio,” Andy stated.

He divulged that all efforts to get Kofi Nti to feature on the said song proved futile, so Andy recorded and mastered the song and handed it over to his producer.

Andy further revealed that Kofi Nti later called on phone to have a discussion with him but could not turn up until he heard Ofori Amponsah release similar song titled “Alewa”.

“He later called me on phone to meet him to discuss something with me but told him I’m done with the song until I recently heard that Ofori Amponsah has released similar song with same titled ‘Alewa’” he said.

Kofi Nti responded to the allegation insisting he had never given out lyrics of Andy’s “Alewa” song to Ofori Amponsah but only advised him to change some portion of the song.
