Say the words ‘when I get older, I will be stronger; they’ll call me freedom just like a wavin’ flag’ to any football fan across the globe and three words will come to mind – football, FIFA World Cup and Coca-Cola.

Africa embraced its first FIFA World Cup hosting fever in South Africa when the continent welcomed the world in 2010. Shakira was handed the privilege of creating the official World Cup song. Wife to Spain and Barcelona defender Gerald Pique took an Africa theme to with traditional drum sounds to produce Waka Waka.

Little did Shakira know that while tapping into her immense talent for the official song, Coca Cola and K’naan were going to do one better with their World Cup song Wavin’ Flag. In the time span for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Wavin’ Flag was the song on everyone’s lips.

The 2014 FIFA World was no different as Coca Cola took the shine with David Correy’s ‘The World Is Our’.

In a bid to continue the awesome infusion of sports and music like never before, Coca Cola is making the 2018 FIFA World Cup a better place with Jason Derulo’s ‘Colors’.

Football has always had that unrivaled trait of bringing people from all over the world together. Officially, 32 countries represented at this year’s mundial. However, football will always be football and find ways to bring people together, not necessarily those who have their nations participating.

Jason Derulo captured that feeling in his song for the FIFA World Cup.

Opening with what a feeling it is to have such an event, the singer teases with fans what to expect and rally them on with ‘hands up for your colors’.

For the entire majority of games in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, one can attest to the fact that teams actually looked at how far they had come and feared nothing raising their hands and heads up high.

But it’s just not about words of ‘Colors’.

Incorporating a whole different feel of football and cultures, ‘Colors’ tempo gives a great deal of musical vibe that resonates with Ghanaians who love their music.

The touch of ‘Gwara Gwara’, one of Africa’s most popular dance moves in Jason Derulo’s video makes it an almost impossible mission not to move when ‘Colors’ is played. And it gets played a lot.

So, for Ghanaians, it’s enjoying football while loving music like they’ve loved the game. Coca Cola keeps on giving and Jason Derulo’s ‘Color’ for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is no different.

Next time you hear ‘Look how far we’ve come, now … now … now … now’, move your feet and break a sweat because it’s the World Cup fever. You always have a bottle of Coca Cola to help you cool down afterwards.
