Mayor bans music concert in Tamale

The ban follows the death of eight people on Friday who had gone to the Tamale Airport to welcome Fancy Gadam and his Nigerian counterpart, Patoranking for a show scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Speaking the media after the fatal accident, she said: "We are not going to allow one single individual to take Tamale ransom, we won’t allow that. I have spoken to him, I have spoken to his managers but this young man will not listen and I tell you that his talent is a danger to the people of Tamale.“The fabulous talent of this young man is a danger to the people of Tamale. Why will you want to mobilise young people, innocent people on the streets, just because you want to make profits? You want to use the blood of the people to make money? We won’t tolerate that.“I have banned all musical concerts at the stadium. No more musical concert until further notice. We are not going to allow that. He was not coming to pay a courtesy call on my disciplined chief, no, they were all over the place, blocked the streets, a lot of indiscipline on the streets. We shouldn’t allow this. You and I we should speak against it.”

Meanwhile the musician has cancelled his concert with Patoranking following the accident.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the artiste announced the postponement of the show indefinitely.

He said: "My heart is heavy right now , words can’t describe how I feel. I am sorry to announce to you that my show with Patoranking scheduled to come of tomorrow has been postponed indifinately... I can’t lose my fans and still have the heart to stage a show."

The accident is said to have occurred when a vehicle conveying some of the overzealous fans, collided with an oncoming vehicle that had a tyre burst, causing the driver to veer off the road.

Another vehicle carrying public address system and branded in Zylofon Cash colours was also involved in the accident.
