MOGO 2015 All Set For The Annual Music Festival

The annual Citi FM Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) Festival is set to roll its package of events from Saturday March 21 to 28 to celebrate authentic music of Ghanaian origin.

The annual Citi FM Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) Festival is set to roll its package of events from Saturday March 21 to 28 to celebrate authentic music of Ghanaian origin, according to Graphic Online.

A statement released by Citi FM says some very good music moments would occur during the festival when it takes off on the wings of an Accra Music Expo at, Mantse Agbonaa, James Town, on Saturday, March 21 with some of the best indigenous Ga bands and musicians as well as a Jama competition.

On Sunday March 22, 10 deceased musicians will be remembered at a special MOGO Memorial Service. The event is to immortalise the musicians and honour them for their contributions to Ghanaian music. The musicians are Dr K. Gyasi, Dr Paa Bobo, P. K. Yamoah, Rev. Kusi Berko, Terry Bonchaka, Mac Tontoh (Osibisa), Jerry Hansen (Ramblers), Akwasi Ampofo Agyei, Michael Dwamena and Alex Konadu. Some living legends will also be honoured at a special event dubbed Nights with Highlife Greats on March 23 and 24 at the Alisa Hotel.

The legends will take turns to tell their life stories, with a band in the background performing their hits intermittently. Nana Kwame Ampadu, Ben Brako and a special surprise act will take turns each night to tell their stories.

On Friday March 27, the programme will get groovy with an African Jazz Jamboree (Jazz’in the Citi). The event will bring together a host of captivating jazz musicians - Gyedu Blay Ambolley, George Spratz, Aka Blay, Kollaboration, Constant Boty and B.B. Blues. - to give patrons a night to remember.

The MOGO Festival will be climaxed on Saturday, March 28 with a MOGO Awards at the Accra International Conference Centre. Ten individuals or groups will walk home with one of the prestigious MOGO Awards 2015 on the night
