Rapper pays event organisers to infuse special effects into his performances

President of Ghana's musicians union has revealed some of the secrets of Sarkodie, and why he is such a successful entertainer. Turns out he invests his money.

In a bid to make his performance memorable and world class, rapper Sarkodie throws in some of his personal money during events.

According to veteran Ghanaian hip-life musician and current president of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Obour, the rapper puts in the extra effort into his art, and that sets him apart from all other musicians in Ghana.

"For instance; if you see Sarkodie performing, there are times you see some pyro lights and some smokes, they are not things organisers brought, those are items he as an artist pays for organisers to incorporate into his performance. He is up there because he puts a lot on his art,”  Obour  revealed.

Obour, whose real name is Bice Osei Kuffour, showered props on the hip hop act for investing financially into equipment that can make his craft better.

“No disrespect to the others doing it but Sarkodie invests so much into his art, He is one of the artists whom when you engage to come perform at a concert, and you finish your monetary and paper works, he personally invests into the show.” Obour added.

Sarkodie currently dominates the nomination list for the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. He leads the nominees with 11 nominations.
