Okraku-Mantey jumps to Ofori Amponsah’s defense

Chief Executive Officer of Slip Music, Mark Okraku-Mantey is questioning the rationale behind people chiding Ofori Amponsah for his inability to quote a verse from the Bible.

Ofori Amponsah who has staged a comeback to highlife years after quitting music to become a pastor choked on a question about his favourite Bible verse in an interview on Starr 103.5 FM.

Although he was able to recite a verse, Ofori Amponsah was unable to tell where the verse could be found in the Bible.

“I can’t give you the exact place it can be found,” he said.

Some have chastised him and cast doubt about his competence as a pastor.

But Okraku-Mantey speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on Thursday disagreed with assertions that Ofori Amponsah’s inability to tell the location of the verse shows that he is not a man of God.

“You have no right to judge him. Are you telling me that if a spiritualist gives a quotation from the Bible, that means he is doing God’s work?” he queried.

Okraku-Mantey believes that Ofori Amponsah may have felt intimidated by the previous question.

“Ofori’s ego was bruised before that question. I don’t see this as a big deal. Is it about the quotation or the content? He couldn’t give a quotation and so what? He may have been provoked with a question. I’m told he was asked if indeed he is a fraudster. That question made Ofori lose his cool. You can sweat in an air-condition room. What about that?” he argued.

Meanwhile, the management of Ofori Amponsah has conceded that it did not help the artiste in some aspects of his comeback.
