Remember when Jay Z said the music streaming service he acquired earlier this year, Tidal, was doing just fine?

Well, it seems things aren't actually going too bad at Tidal. The rapper/entrepreneur took to Twitter to reveal a very significant milestone for Tidal: one million subscribers. "'Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists,'" Jay Z tweeted. "Tidal is platinum."

To celebrate this milestone, Tidal will be hosting a charity concert in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on October 20, featuring high-caliber artists including Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Prince, and Jay Z himself.

Tidal also says the event will be streamed live on its website to everyone (including non-subscribers).

Although reaching one million subscribers is a big deal for Tidal, that number is still quite far off from competitors like Spotify and Rhapsody – which 15 million and 3 million subscribers, respectively.

Granted, Tidal  hasn’t been around for as long as the competitors, since Jay Z acquired it, at least, so there is still room for the service to grow and try to catch up to its rivals.

Tidal had shared similar details back in April, when Jay Z announced that the service has over 770,000 subscribers. "Tidal is doing just fine," he said. "We have over 770,000 subs. We have been in business less than one month."
