According to a report by Tuko.co.ke, the Senior Superintendent of Police George Kirigwi was given a list of 43 officers whose names had been listed for promotion, pending a meeting with the country’s National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

Reports say when the SSP George Kirigwi spotted the name of his good friend, Commissioner of Police, Meshack Musyoki on the list as one of the officers due for promotion, he simply could not wait to disclose the information to him and congratulate him.

SSP George Kirigwi then instructed a Corporal driver to drive him to his friend, Meshack Musyoki so he could deliver the list to him personally because he could not do same through WhatApp.

It is reported that while SSP George Kirigwi stepped out of the car to make a call, the corporal driver took a photo of the list and sent to some other police officers and the list was intercepted by the media and treated as breaking news.

The news put the three officers into trouble because the Inspector General, Joseph Boinnet had not yet met with the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) for approval.

A warning letter sent to all police commanders last week reads “The Inspector General (IG) has interdicted three officers, a Commissioner, a Senior Superintendent and a Corporal for breaching the Service Standing Orders on document security.”
