Student named "Prayer" jailed for stealing N10,000 phone
A 20-year-old student, Monday Prayer, has been remanded in prison by a Grade 1 Area Court in Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa state, for allegedly stealing mobile phone.
Prayer was arraigned before Judge Albert Maga on Thursday, Vanguard reports.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji told the court that one Yayock Shedrach of Tudun Wada, Mararaba, lodged a complaint against the accused at the `A’ Divisional Police Station on May 27.
Adaji said the suspect had attacked the complainant with a sharp object around 6pm on the day while the latter was going home.
He said the suspect used the sharp object to stab his victim in the right hand before fleeing with his Tecno mobile phone valued at N10,000.
“After collecting the phone, the accused escaped with it before he was apprehended and the said phone was recovered from him,” Adaji said.
The Prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 292 of the Penal Code and attracts two years jail term or option of fine or both.
The Judge then remanded Prayer into prison custody and adjourned the case until June 8.
